| Having your favourite model kit
custom built need not cost a fortune. You can have some model kits built
for a low rate plus the cost of the kit and shipping with Small Art Works'
Model Building Service!
The models shown in the pictures on this page are examples of models that can be built "box-stock" as shown for avery low price plus the cost of the kit and shipping charges. Models done for this low rate are given simple but effective paint and weathering (if necessary), but does not include modifications made to the kit. |

| Please remember that these are only
a few examples. Because model kits vary greatly in complexity, your favourite
may cost more to build than those shown here. Some can cost hundreds of
dollars to finish. Please write for a quote for a specific kit. Let me
know as much as you can about the kit, including manufacturer, size or
scale and if possible the number of parts. I may be familiar with it if
it's a mainstream kit, but be prepared to answer a few questions if it
is unknown to me.
This build-up service is not limited to building science fiction or fantasy models. Whether it's aircraft, battleships, military or any kind of model in any category, it can be built for you. To save money, you are encouraged to supply the kit yourself, but if necessary, for a reasonable finder's fee, the kit MAY be provided for you. Remember that if the kit is out of production, you must expect to pay collector's rates for it, which will, of course, be added to your total cost. Try looking for the out-of-production model yourself using one of the various on-line auction services such as Ebay, or try John F. Green, who specializes in rare collectible kits, but sometimes the prices can be very high. Small Art Works will provide this "kit hunt-down" service for you only if hired for the build-up. Scratch Built Models If you want a model made that is not available in kit form, it can be made completely from scratch if enough information on the subject is provided or can be researched. Please keep in mind however, that a completely scratch built model can cost thousands of dollars in some cases, depending on many variables, such as the complexity and size of the model. Research time is also a factor, so it's best if you can provide the documentation necessary to build the model. If you have a model that you would like to have professionally built at an affordable rate, please send an email request to me here at Small Art Works for a free estimate. Please also be advised that a custom model buildup of any kind may take a long time to do, as there are many factors such as my own schedule and how many jobs are ahead of you at the time you place your order. Please be aware that you may not get your model finished for many weeks, and in some cases, especially for modified or scratch built models, many months. Your patience is requested. When a quote is agreed upon, and you decide to order, please follow the instructions on the Order Form Page. Some important notes about shipping... The best way to ship your finished model to you is by postal service air mail. Couriers are not recommended, because they are more expensive, only a little faster, and they will not insure any hand crafted items against loss or damage. They will also not insure any items sent to an individual or non business. Packages sent via air mail can be insured against loss only for up to approximately $630 US to some countrries such as the United States, Canada and the UK. This insurancce costs $1 per $100 of value. Packages shipped to Italy and Germany, for example, because of the high risk rate, may only be insured for about $40 US, or maybe not all. If you require insurance for your finished model, please contact me for options. |
