This model
was built box stock from the excellent re-release of the Monogram kit
with no modifications except for the addition of lights in the engines.
Three grain-of-wheat bulbs protrude from the centres of the exhausts, and
the surrounding "dish" was sprayed chrome-like silver to act as a reflector,
which is exactly the way the original studio models were lit. A light tint
of transparent blue was sprayed over the silver and the bulbs to help tint
the lights the right colour. The power supply is self-contained, as there
is plenty of room within the body, and the kit's clever design allows the
entire engine section to be removed for easy access to the inside. I had
actually begun the model about fifteen years ago and had it about
3/4 done and I have just finished it recently for a customer.
